Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2017, At the age of 40, I was diagnosed with a degenerative neurological condition called Parkinson’s Disease. As a former soldier in the Parachute Regiment and active Mountain Rescue Team Member, the diagnosis of a progressive movement disorder came as a huge blow. My wife and I are still coming to terms with the news, and adjusting to the changes in our lives. There is currently no cure for the disease.
A year and a half into the diagnosis, I am already seeing the effects of the disease. Basic daily tasks we all normally perform without thinking like tying shoelaces and using cutlery are becoming increasingly difficult now and cramps, muscle rigidity and tremors will all contribute to making the challenge of a marathon even greater.
Jude (my wife) and I are taking part in the 2019 London Marathon to raise valuable funds for Parkinson's UK. Every penny counts and will go toward making a huge difference for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.
